Well, It’s early Friday morning and I’m drunk–wow, my first drunk post. Not much happening, it was Na&rsauo;s bday the other day and Teri made shish kebobs (quite yummy, by the way) and we got together at my mom’s house. We’re planning a trip to the coast this weekend–well, Fri and Sat. I haven’t been in a while and it’s always nice to see the sea. We’ll be doing some fishing and swimming, so it should be pretty fun. Unlike most folks, the coast is a place of almost spiritual connection for me. I love just sitting there and watching the waves come in, the detritus on the beach, the patterns in the sand. It’s all part of a great pattern/rhythm in nature. I like to see what the sea is putting out. the last thing I want to see is the morons getting drunk and defiling the beach–it’s sacrilege if you ask me. But, then again, I am more of a nature worshipper than anything else. Well, that’s about enough about that.

Yesterday we went out and saw Pirates of the Caribbean. It was an excellent film, very enjoyable. Johnny Depp really gave quite a good performance, he really gave the character of Jack Sparrow a real personality. The swordfighting was excellent. As an ex-fencer, I really enjoyed the classic styles they used. Alot of the most recent films I’ve seen have included too much Kung-fu in the fighting, and this film was a refreshing change. Every stroke, and parry was proper and not contrived. Whoever did the choreography did an excellent job. I’m definitely getting this when it comes out on DVD.

The girl on the movie was pretty good, I could have sworn it was Natalie Portman, it was, in fact, Keira Knightley. It wasn’t until I got home and looked it up that it wasn’t Natalie, but Keira Knightley’s credits include the Phantom Menace, so I figured that she was one of Amidala’s doubles, hence the resemblance. The similarity of the eyes is what had me fooled, there was still a question in my mind.

I wholly recommend the film, go check it out and enjoy!
